This course provides participants with fundamental knowledge and practical skills required to prevent, identify and respond to fire emergencies, with special emphasis on industrial and oil & gas environments. The training combines theoretical instruction with hands-on practical exercises to ensure safe and effective firefighting response.
Objectives
· Identify fire hazards in industrial and oil & gas facilities.
· Operate fire detection, alarm and firefighting equipment safely.
· Select and apply appropriate firefighting media and techniques.
· Use breathing apparatus and personal protective equipment correctly.
· Follow standard emergency response and evacuation procedures.

DAY 1: Introduction to Fire
o Concept and behavior of fire
o Fire triangle and fire tetrahedron
o Classes of fire (Class A, B, C, D, K)
o Principles of fire prevention and control
o Flammable and combustible materials in CFS, ICDs, ports, terminals, warehouses, and oil & gas facilities
o Common industrial fire hazards
o Static electricity and ignition sources
o Fire risk awareness and prevention measures
DAY 2: Fire Detection and Alarm Systems
o Purpose and components of fire detection systems
o Smoke, heat, and flame detectors
o Manual call points and alarm activation
o General alarm systems and emergency communication
o Fire plans, muster lists, and emergency roles
o Fire drills and emergency preparedness
o Fixed firefighting systems: Sprinkler systems, Deluge and monitor systems, Foam-based fixed installations
o Portable firefighting equipment: Fire extinguishers and classifications, Fire hoses, nozzles, and hydrants
o Fire blankets, fireman outfit, and PPE
o Safety precautions during equipment operation
DAY 3: Firefighting Media and Techniques
o Firefighting media: Water, Foam, Carbon dioxide (CO₂), Dry chemical powder, Other specialized agents
o Foam types and applications (basic overview)
o Firefighting techniques for small incipient fires and large or spreading fires
o Offensive and defensive firefighting concepts
o Demonstration of extinguishing methods
DAY 4: Breathing Apparatus and Personal Safety
o Types and components of breathing apparatus (BA)
o Correct usage and limitations of BA
o Donning and doffing procedures
o Personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
o Safe firefighting practices
o Heat stress awareness and buddy system
DAY 5: Emergency Response Procedures
o Understanding Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
o Handling flammable and hazardous material spills
o Emergency evacuation procedures
o Emergency routes and assembly points
o Fire spread behavior and containment strategies
o Coordination during emergencies
o Identification and use of firefighting equipment
o Extinguishing small fires using appropriate media
o Hose handling and nozzle techniques
o Breathing apparatus practice (where applicable)
o Fire drills and team-based response
o Scenario-based emergency simulations
