Introduction

Day 1: Introduction to Wild land Fire & Fire Behavior

  • Fire behavior and spread patterns
  • Reading smoke and fire indicators

Day 2: Wild land Fire Hazards & Safety

  • Wild land fire hazards (terrain, weather, wildlife, heat stress)
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for wild land firefighting
  • LCES concept (Lookouts, Communications, Escape Routes, Safety Zones)
  • Situational awareness and risk management
  • Fire shelter use and emergency procedures
  • Fatigue and hydration management

Day 3: Tools, Equipment & Fire line Operations

  • Introduction to wild land firefighting tools:
    • Hand tools (Pulaski, shovel, rake, fire beater)
    • Water handling equipment (hoses, pumps, tanks)
  • Fire line construction techniques
  • Direct v/s indirect attack methods
  • Use of natural and artificial firebreaks
  • Basic controlled burning concepts

Day 4: Fire Suppression Strategies & Team Coordination

· Wild land fire suppression strategies:

  • Direct attack
  • Indirect attack
  • Parallel attack

· Crew organization and teamwork

· Communication in remote environments

· Coordination with aerial and ground resources

· Mop-up operations and fire containment
